San Leandro Equity Study Turns into Raises for Members

In the recent contract in San Leandro, Local 21 negotiated a clause to meet and confer over equity studies for water plant and police department classifications 60 days after the ratification. We bargained for six months over the equity studies post contract and our members at the water plant are going to get retro equity pay all the way back to October 2013.  The salary increases for certain classifications consist 7.5 percent, 5 percent, and 2.5 percent.  President Kim Freitas, Vice President Chris Heinl and new member and officer Howard Cin from the plant led our team to a great victory for water plant Local 21 members.  We are also setting up another meeting to go over the Police Department classifications in our bargaining unit.  The city did not propose any increases for this group.
