The Assembly’s theme, “On the Rise,” will focus on the opportunities and challenges we anticipate for 2013 and beyond, including a rebounding economy, securing wage increases, protecting our health care, and dealing with the ramifications of statewide pension reform bill AB 340. We will also review last year’s bargaining trends to examine where we came from, where we’re headed, and lessons we can learn. Special Guest Speaker, California State Senator Shiela Kuehl (retired) will also join us. Senator Kuehl is an outspoken advocate for California’s women and working families, and has a proven track record of fighting for affordable health care for all.
Part of our business meeting will include an overview of the union’s budget, discussion of our San Francisco headquarters’ relocation, and a renewal of our Executive Director’s contract.
The Assembly is open to all Delegates and any interested members. Registration begins at 8:30am, and the program begins at 9am, and will end at roughly 1pm. Lunch will be provided to those who RSVP by Friday, January 18.
