Local 21 Delegates Move To Put More Funds Toward Political Action

At the Delegate Assembly on October 22, more than 125 Local 21 member leaders got together on a Saturday morning to democratically participate in Local 21. One of the actions taken by the Delegates was an overwhelming recommendation to divert 0.75 cents per member per month to the TJ Anthony Fund, Local 21’s PAC, instead of the General Fund, in order to increase members’ political voice without raising dues. This diversion seems especially important given the results of the recent election and the coming attacks on public services.

If any members would prefer the 0.75 cents to stay in the Local 21 General Fund and not go to the TJ Anthony Fund, an opt-out procedure will be available starting in January under the “Join Local 21” section of the website. Opting out of the TJ Anthony Fund will not decrease member dues.
