On Wednesday, July 12, Local 21 members from departments including Building Inspection, Department of the Environment, Port of San Francisco, Controllers, SFO and others came out to a Fight Back Phone Bank to defend the Affordable Care Act.
The phone bank was part of an ongoing effort to stop the new Trumpcare bill that would strip coverage from millions and create roadblocks for millions more. Local 21 members spoke with voters in Colorado and Arizona, who then left messages with their Senators urging them to stand up for healthcare justice. Ben Cooper, a Local 21 member in the Department of the Environment said, “I was able to talk to people about a crucial issue in a part of the country I would never have been able to access otherwise. I connected 9 people with their Senators to have their voices heard, and that’s a real impact.”
