Sunnyvale City Workers Overwhelmingly Vote to Join Local 21

The SEA (Sunnyvale Employees Association), an independent Association representing about 450 workers for the city of Sunnyvale, recently voted by an overwhelming margin of 91% to join IFPTE Local 21.

With increasing attacks against workers in the public sector, and coming off a difficult bargaining campaign with the City of Sunnyvale where SEA members hadn’t received a net raise in 5 years, SEA understood that affiliating with IFPTE Local 21 would be the best way to ensure a stronger union.

The affiliation was done in close collaboration with the leadership and members of the Sunnyvale Employees Association and with IFPTE Local 21 leadership. These hard working public employees fit extremely well with the Local 21’s membership.

“Local 21 is proud to have the SEA join us.  They have demonstrated real solidarity in the past, and will be a great addition to our union, helping us to build bargaining and political power through the Bay Area,” says Local 21 Executive Director Bob Muscat.
