The Sunnyvale Employees' Association represents approximately 485 employees in 170 job classifications. Planners, engineers, parks maintenance, public works maintenance workers, water pollution control operators, mechanics, clerical, accounting and technical staff, as well as librarians and community services.

San Jose Members Overwhelmingly Ratify Retiree Healthcare Agreement

Our three San Jose bargaining units voted overwhelmingly to accept the recently negotiated agreement over retiree healthcare.

The agreement was a compromise on both sides and creates an opportunity to work together moving forward on solving a major issue for our members, as well as the City.

Labor Candidate Cindy Chavez Leads Santa Clara County Supervisor Race

Local 21's endorsed candidate, Cindy Chavez, made a strong first-place showing in a six-way race for the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors, District 2. Voter turnout for the Special Election on June 4 was 17 percent, and Chavez earned 41 percent of the vote.

Union Wins Sick Leave Payout Suit Against San Jose

In an important and far-reaching decision, a Superior Court judge ruled in favor of Labor and found that the City of San Jose cannot unilaterally, retroactively eliminate Sick Leave payouts for employees who have a vested right to such deferred compensation.

San Jose to Begin Negotiations Amidst Uncertainty with City’s Illegal Pension Reform Measure

San Jose continues to be a workplace of uncertainty. Employee unions were in County Superior Court today requesting an injunction against Measure B, the City’s illegal pension reform. The move would stop the City from implementing key pieces of Measure B until the court determines the ballot measure’s legality.
