The Golden Gate Bridge District chapters represent both the Allied Administrative and Engineers units. Collectively, we are professionals who provide essential services to Bay Area residents through our work in engineering, traffic planning and marketing.

Golden Gate Reaches Tentative Agreement


On May 7, after more than one year at the bargaining table with the Golden Gate Bridge Highway and Transportation District, the Golden Gate Bridge Labor Coalition, including Local 21, reached a tentative agreement.

Golden Gate Labor Coalition Members Speak Out!


Golden Gate Bridge Labor Coalition members, including unionized deckhands, captains, terminal assistants, mechanics, and other District workers all have been fighting for a new contract and to keep healthcare affordable for their families since April of 2011. The Golden Gate Bridge General Manager and Board have insisted on concessions to help them out of a short term budget challenge but have given the non-union employees at the District a raise in July of 2011.

May Day 2012 Golden Gate Labor Coalition Rally


On Saturday, April 14, Local 21 members joined other Golden Gate Labor Coalition unions for a successful rally and march from the San Francisco Ferry Terminal to AT&T Park, coinciding with Giant’s opening day.

Members Picket Golden Gate 75th Anniversary Gala in Support of Bridge Workers


No one likes to ruin a party, but how can you be holding gala events celebrating the Golden Gate Bridge while attacking the people that actually make the bridge run at the same time? A very disturbing and heart breaking situation has been developing at the Golden Gate Bridge. Over 380 union members joined in a coalition of 19 unions have been bargaining for over 10 months without reaching an agreement, and now are down to a fight to keep healthcare affordable for families.

Occupy Shows Solidarity with Golden Gate Workers


On December 7, a giant OCCUPY! banner was hung over the Waldo Tunnel in support of the Golden Gate Labor Coalition workers, who have been in a struggle to get a fair contract since April 2011.

Golden Gate Members Organize Picket, Demand Fairness


On October 28, Local 21 members at the Golden Gate Bridge District joined 75 of their fellow Labor Coalition members for an informational picket. Together, they confronted the Board of Directors on the lack of progress at the bargaining table with the District.
