Member-Driven Parks Program Sparks Bay Area Public Space Renovation

San Francisco’s Pavement to Parks Program was initiated in 2010 with a number of experimental projects that demonstrated new ways of creating public space in our neighborhoods.  The Program is coordinated by the San Francisco Planning Department in collaboration with the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency and San Francisco Public Works.  IFPTE Local 21 members - urban planners, designers, landscape architects, project and traffic engineers – are involved every step of the way in the advancement and administration of the program, which has been replicated all over the county.

A number of our San Francisco members are inquiring about the negotiated pay raise of 3% that went into effect October 11. You may have expected to see it in your paycheck from this Tuesday, Oct. 21, but it wasn’t there. What’s happening?

 

Transparency, Health Care Costs Continue to be Priorities

At the start of the New Year, we predicted that health care would be the “Issue of 2013.” Less than half way through the year, our prediction came true. As part of our efforts through the Public Employee Committee’s (PEC) Labor Management Committee on Health and Wellness, Local 21 has been at the forefront of fighting for transparent, accountable active and retiree health care on multiple fronts.
