Labor Candidate Cindy Chavez Leads Santa Clara County Supervisor Race

Local 21's endorsed candidate, Cindy Chavez, made a strong first-place showing in a six-way race for the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors, District 2. Voter turnout for the Special Election on June 4 was 17 percent, and Chavez earned 41 percent of the vote.

A runoff will be held on July 30 between Chavez and Teresa Alvarado, who received 31 percent of the vote.

Dozens of Local 21 members and staff in San Jose, Oakland, and San Francisco called voters and walked door to door. Big shout out to our South Bay Leaders and volunteers:

We’ll develop a game plan within the next week for the runoff campaign, and talk to members about volunteer opportunities between now and July 30.
