Port of Oakland Members Ratify New Contract

After a lengthy contract campaign where the Port of Oakland was demanding ongoing concessions despite no economic need for givebacks and growing revenues, Local 21 members overwhelmingly ratified a new contract that not only includes no concessions, but affords long deserved wage increases. The three year contract includes a one-time $3,500 bonus, two 2.5% COLA increases in 2013 and 2014, additional paid leave days, and an 8% base salary increase to offset new 8% employee contributions toward pension benefits.
