San Jose chapters get 3 percent wage increases

AEA, AMSP and CAMP have approved new MOUs. The contracts are for one year and call for a 3 percent wage hike.  We negotiated a side letter to continue dialogue with the City to more quickly restore salaries for classifications that are well below market rate and experiencing high vacancies. 

The City needs to work with us to solve recruitment and retention issues. For example, the salary for associate engineers is 12 percent below the average of other Bay Area jurisdictions. The City needs to make more proactive moves to stop large-scale recruitment and retention issues.
