Santa Clara Valley Water District Member Appointed to Citizens’ Committee

Long-time water resources professional Scott Akin was recently appointed to the Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority Citizens Advisory Committee. Scott was sworn in May 20 to represent the Committee’s Labor Seat.

Scott is a 22-year employee at the Santa Clara Valley Water District, and Member of Local 21’s Engineers Society at the District. He brings an extensive background in urban planning, environmental resource management, and civil engineering to the Citizens Advisory Committee.

“Protecting our local resources is becoming increasingly important and citizen participation from all corners of the community is vital,” said Scott, who is a senior project manager at the District.

Local 21 connected Scott with the South Bay Labor Council, which sent a letter to the Open Space board in support of Scott and his qualifications. The Open Space Authority preserves pieces of the area’s natural environment; the Advisory Committee provides public input to the Authority about projects and goals.
