Local 21 Oakland Services and Vacancy Crisis Rally

March 25, 2019 Update:

We have rescheduled the Services and Vacancy Crisis Rally for Tuesday, April 16. The details are the same; meet at City Hall at 5pm for a short rally, followed by us going into City Hall Chambers to speak in front of City Council about how the short-staffing affects our work and the services we provide Oakland residents. View the flyer below.

March 11, 2019 Update:

The Oakland City Council has canceled their session scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, March 12th. Therefore, our Local 21 Services and Vacancy Crisis Rally is also canceled for tomorrow.

We are rescheduling the rally and we will let you know the details as soon as possible.

As City of Oakland workers, we love Oakland. But we can’t provide vital services to residents when we’re experiencing severe staffing and vacancy shortages. Colleagues are leaving because Oakland is not a competitive employer. You can’t put city services first if you put city workers last. Come rally City Council members on Tuesday, March 12th on the steps of City Hall at 5pm! City Council members officially submit their budget priorities on March 15, and this is our chance to make sure we’re on that list.
