Join Us for Our First Local 21 API Caucus Gathering Over Karaoke!

We are having our first Local 21 API Caucus get-together on Monday, September 25th at 5:30pm at the Mint. RSVP here!

In August, Local 21 had a small contingent of API (Asian Pacific Islander) members and staff attended the national APALA (Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance, AFL-CIO) conference in Anaheim, California. Read more about it here.

Frances Hsieh and JR Santos, the two Local 21 members who attended the APALA conference, were inspired and want to bring that feeling of empowerment to other API Local 21 members.

“I’m jazzed about getting more AAPI employees active with Local 21. It’s time we organized for a greater voice in our union, and get our union more active in the communities and issues we care about. Sisters and Brothers, let’s build the union we want to be!” said Frances.

Local 21 has a large population of API union members. We are making space for leadership opportunities for Local 21 API members within their workspaces, within Local 21, and at the next APALA conference.

Local 21 Executive Board member Larry Griffin voiced his support,“It’s great that this is caucus is being created. This is long overdue, especially since we have so many Asian Local 21 members.”

Everyone is welcome; you don’t have to be API to join in on the fun and to support the cause!
